This project was created for my mom from my stepdad. He wanted me to make her a very special card for their 1 yr anniversary. I couldn't think of a card special enough to create, so I started flipping through my craft magazines. When I got to the back page of my Paper Crafts mag (Jan/Feb 2011) the light bulb came on! There was a small shadow box on the page. I looked around my space for something to use and I was in luck--I still had the box my Making Memories Distressing Kit came in! This is what I came up with:
The little pieces of paper are for "Love Notes". The quote reads: I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you (Emily B. Browning). {I forgot to include who the quote was by on my project. *oops*}
My stepdad loved it and so did my mom. She thought it came from Walmart or Hallmark!

Ladybug Picnic
It's been a looooong time since I've posted (sorry followers!)!! At one point I totally lost my drive to create (gasp!), then I was without internet access for a time. But alas, dear friends, I am back! And I have been in a creating kind of mood. :)
The following card was made for my niece ("The Diva"...). She is the sweetest little girl in the whole world. She recently turned two, and my sister decided on a Ladybug Picnic for her theme (think Sesame Street). I had fun creating this one. I actually got the idea from a fellow card maker on Scrapbook.com. Without further ado, here it is!

Journey
It's been a loooong time since I've posted here! Not that I haven't been creating...I just haven't posted (shame on me...lol). The card that I have below is one that I made for a friend who is going through a really rough time right now. Actually, she has been going through A LOT of rough times with her health, family, and marriage...but through it all she has managed to hang in there and not give up. She is such a blessing to my life, and I do my best to encourage her and help her hold her head high no matter what.
I used colors that I felt were cheerful. Funny story...After I made the card, I attempted to open it so that I could finish the inside and write a note. Well, I had accidentally made the card upside down...LOL! I was going to try to change everything around, but I figured it would give her a little laugh so I left it. I was right...lol! I wrote at the top "Who says that cards have to open from the right side?!"
So without further ado....here is my latest creation:
The little swirlydo on the left next to LIFE is a bookmark. The rub-on moved a little when I was adding it so it's a little off. TFL! :)

How "Stella" Got Her Mojo Back...lol
Well, I'm not Stella, but I finally have my mojo back. I've been in kind of a funk lately. Dealt with a bit of grief towards the end of last month, and it took a toll on me. The minister of music, a dear friend of mine, at the church I attend lost his younger brother in a senseless murder. I did not know the brother, but I have such a heart for my friend that my heart was so heavy for him. Of course the healing process is going to take a good deal of time for the family. If you are a prayer warrior and it happens to cross your mind now and again, please keep the Wilson family lifted up. {Thanks}
Here is the card I made for him from the music department.

On a lighter note, a friend asked me to make a card for her sister from her niece, so I made this cute little card for her...complete with jokes on the inside!
And here's a thank you card I made for a friend who made some SCRUMPTIOUS cupcakes for my son's party. (Can you say Bacon Cuppies?!!) Yes, you read it right! They were bacon maple cupcakes, and they were SO S-O G-double O-D GOOD!! lol
Hope you enjoy!

Blessings
Last week I printed out and colored a digi image of a Jacobean bird created by Jodie Mackrell over at Bugaboo Stamps (that I believe I got as a freebie over at Operation Write Home's Stars & Stamps blog). I didn't have a project that I was working on; I just loved the image and decided to tinker with it a bit. Well, I finally started on a project yesterday and finished it tonight. Here is the card I created using the image:
OK...I used a hot glue gun to adhere the bird's nest (created using twine with a little bling) and ribbon. Let me tell you--THAT was a project in itself!! I managed to get everything glued without burning myself...lol!
Now that it's finished, I think that I will give it to my grandmother. She's the sweetest old lady you could ever meet, though we teasingly say that she's "gangsta"! (LOL...You should hear the stories of her hayday!!) She is such a blessing to my life. We (my siblings and cousins) often reminisce about how she used to play kickball with us when we were younger. She's 74 and seems just as young as we are! So, here's to my grandmother and grandmothers everywhere!!

Home Sweet Home
My baby brother and his family are now proud new homeowners! We celebrated with them on Saturday. They have more land than I'd ever want to mow...lol. I'm so proud of them!
Here is the card I created for them:
The cardstock is from the Paper Studio. The images are E-cuts from Scrapbook.com (I LOVE those E-cuts!). The brads are from Special Moments (Dollar Tree). I got the idea here at Splitcoaststampers.

365 Cards Day 196
Day 196 at 365 Cards is Super Sketchy Sunday! Here's the sketch provided by Pamela Maas:
And here's my take on the sketch:
When I saw the sketch I automatically thought about bees! The cardstock (black and yellow) is from The Paper Studio. The image and sentiment were created using Word. The little orange flowers are actually individual pieces of some ribbon I bought from Michaels. I used the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder to emboss the black cardstock.
I figured this could be used as a cute little "Congratulations" card, although I have left the inside blank (so far). I'll just add it to my personal stash until someone needs it.
